Kimberly-Clark 20th Anniversary

We experienced a rather hot summer in Tennessee this year. We had the opportunity to coordinate a large, well-known company’s 20th anniversary event. The only down-side being 95 degrees that day. Let’s just say the Sno-Cones were a huge hit and we went through many bags of ice and bottles of water. Overall, the event was a huge success. Families were able to enjoy the day with many activities including mini golf, bounce house, caricatures, wonderful food, great music, and much more.

This couple was amazing! They were so much fun to work with that we have enjoyed a friendship ever since. Knox Planning loves this photo! Tab & Geoff decided not to see each other the day of the wedding but wanted a picture taken together before they said “I DO”. We crafted a plan and the rest is history. Thanks to the talented Jaclyn Page Photography team we were able to create such a lasting memory.

Company Grand Opening

Knox Planning Event Company had the privilege to work with Aeroflex USA, Inc. in Sweetwater, TN. We coordinated all the details from start to finish for Aeroflex’s grand opening event. Knox Planning worked with various vendors to ensure the outdoor event went smoothly. Mother nature was a bit brutal on us with an exceptionally hot lunchtime event; however, the fans did help keep the guests a little bit more comfortable. We wish this world-wide company much success!

Suzanne and Joel...a great couple to work with throughout the planning of their big day. Upbeat, positive couple head over heels in love! They were a blessing to work with especially the day of the wedding. One of the many highlights from the wedding was the cake topper. The dress matched the bride perfectly down to the groom’s facial hair!

Are you planning an event? Do you have an extremely tight budget? Don’t worry, you are not alone! Many people including businesses are planning parties, seminars, retreats, company picnics and many other events on a limited budget. It becomes more challenging planning events, weddings and parties on a tighter budget but it isn’t impossible. Do you remember those high school dances? They didn’t cost a whole lot of money, yet we all seemed to have a great time. Why is that? That’s easy: Define and set the tone or theme for your event. How do you want it to flow? If you can briefly explain those two questions, you are already ahead of the game.

There are plenty of great sites to utilize when planning an event. Have you checked out etsy.com or recycledbride.com? You always have ebay.com to fall back on as well when looking for decorations, party favors or attendee gifts. Create a budget. Know how much you can spend before you start looking for items. This is will narrow your search and keep you from wanting that “over priced” item that does not fit in your budget.

Use resources that are readily available to you. A little creative thinking goes a long way....and who doesn’t like FREE?!? Make sure the items fit with the tone or theme of your party or event. Remember you want everything to flow cohesively.

Make your next celebration the talk of the town with these top party trends of the new year.
Captivating Color
When it comes to the color wheel, anything goes for birthday and engagement parties, but now even bridal showers, baby showers and weddings—traditionally limited to the expected pastels and white—are mixing it up. Party colors are more a reflection of the guest(s) of honor than the occasion.
“Don’t be shy about using vibrant colors!” says Lisa Spegman, owner of special events company Knox Planning. “Hot colors include orange, green, yellow, and pink along with gold, silver, copper and black. Black is the ‘new black’ for parties.”
Table Dressing
Sleek spandex table and chair covers are another hip new party trend. Additionally, the fabric repels liquids, which means spills clean up easily and tabletops are less likely to be marred by party festivities.
“Spandex covers come in a variety of colors and give party furniture a sculpted silhouette, creating a fresh, modern alternative to traditional tablecloths and chair slipcovers,” says Spegman.
Green Affairs
Speaking of fresh, “green” events are growing more common, too.

“Conscientious party throwers are considering eco-friendly events in 2010, encompassing green ideas like donating leftovers to food banks and finding vendors who are mindful of the 3 R’s—reduce, reuse and recycle,” says Spegman.
Photo Party Favors
Remember photo booths from when you were a kid? For a quarter, you could climb in and have a series of photos snapped of you and your friends. Those are back.
“Photo booths provide an amusing addition to sweet sixteens, weddings, school dances, and other social gatherings,” Spegman says.
Photo booths offer entertainment for all ages and give guests unique, personalized party favors—another coveted trend in 2010. Many professional photographers are embracing the idea, offering photo booths as an option in their photography packages.
Fab Food
Wow your guests with an ethnic spread or a tapas bar. For environmentally friendly theme, use local foods. Be sure to include at least one or two vegetarian options. Enhance the theme by serving drinks and dishes that use super foods filled with antioxidants to promote good health and energy like acai berry smoothies or a colorful fruit salad with fresh strawberries, blueberries and orange slices.
